i work through the kinks
(regimented sweat)
of hegemony and its ineffable differentials

abasing anecdotal artifacts inscribed
in the seams of inveterate compendiums

and my task comes complete
when my skin steals the sweet
smell of black powder and carved sycamore

and my blood stains the grain
of odd things you might hang
diagonally guarding your door
